Know that as you read this post, that it has been infused with powerful healing energies. Notice the calmness flowing into every single cell of your being. Helping you sink deeper and deeper into this beautiful place of peace and tranquillity and giving you the space to see yourself for all that you are.
Our power to create is beyond measure and you have the ability to create calm within you at any moment. I am going to give you 5 tips that work for me and my intention is that they will be helpful for you too. I also know that it you who really knows what you need. Perhaps some of my words will resonate, perhaps the energy will help you remember that which you already know. I would love to hear your feedback and what you find helpful to connect to your inner calm. The words within you could be waiting for this opportunity to reach out and assist another on their own journey.
1. Be with nature
I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by an abundance of nature. Find some nature near you, perhaps a tree, a river, a lake, the ocean or a beautiful park. If that doesn't seem possible, watch a You-tube video of nature or play nature sounds. Find a way to connect with nature and then simple allow yourself to be. You may close your eyes and feel the energy, perhaps you will focus on the bark of a tree, the patterns in the clouds, the feel of the earth beneath your feet. Just be with no expectations and feel the presence of nature around you. Listen to your intuition, reach out and touch the tree if that's what calls you, put your feet in the healing waters of the ocean, follow the wisdom of your heart.
2. Spend time with animals
As an animal lover, animals play a vital part in my well-being. To be in the presence of an animal always makes for a better day! If you have animal family, make time to really connect with them. Patting or brushing them if that's what they like, playing with them or simple watch them being who they are. You may even like to deepen your connection by communicating with them. Take yourself into a place of calm or meditation, focus on connecting with your heart centre and when you feel relaxed begin to send your loving thoughts to your animal family. Notice how they respond and be open to hearing their response!
If you don't have animal family, perhaps you can find an animal to watch or connect with or find some great animal clips on You-Tube. There is an abundance of heart-warming and funny animal clips to brighten your day.
3. Meditate in a way that's right for you
There are so many ways to meditate these days and there will definitely be one for you. I love meditation but sitting in silence and guided meditations may not be for you! You could try to see if there's any styles that work for you, such as sound meditations, chanting, mantras or mindfulness. Or you could just find the activity that acts as a meditation for you. It could be running, cooking, colouring, dancing, yoga, woodwork, gardening...........the list is endless. Think of an activity that allows you to be and do more of that!
4. Fun and laughter
Do things in life that you enjoy. The more time you spend being happy, the greater your inner peace is going to be. Commit to taking one step each day towards creating a happier life for you. If things are challenging at the moment and you're not sure where to start, do something small such as watching a funny video online. Each step you take helps to shift the energy and propels you onto the path of happiness that you deserve.
5. Love yourself
Each day commit to acts of kindness and love towards yourself. Each time you have a negative thought about yourself, pause for a moment and speak some words of kindness. Begin to honour your needs. There is always time. When in the shower, think of the water as love pouring over you, when brushing your teeth, remind yourself of all the wonderful things you did. Write some positive affirmations about yourself and stick them to the toilet door! Make time for the exercise you want to do, the books you want to read........you are amazing and you deserve this love. And as you honour this magnificent being that you are, you will become the greatest version of yourself and you will be a better friend, partner, parent, colleague.....you will be all that you are! As you commit to loving yourself more each day, you will find that inner calm, you will find that comfort in knowing and being the wonderful and unique person that you are.

Eight years ago I was sitting opposite a psychic and she said some words to me that totally changed the direction of my life. The words were, "You have to start using your hands". At the time I was working in a School for Teenagers with mild intellectual disabilities and the thought to use my hands had never occurred to me.
However I must have recognised the truth in what she was saying, for the next thing I knew I had enrolled in a weekend massage course and shortly after began studying my Certificate 4 in massage. In that same year I did Reiki 1, Reiki 2 and my Reiki Master training! All this happened when I didn't like being touched or touching people and really had no idea about energy or what working with the energy systems meant.
Initially, as the beginning of many Reiki journeys are, it was really about my personal growth. Yet at the same time I felt at home in the rhythm of the energies and massaging and working with energy were things that really came naturally to me, even if I didn't see it at the time.
Seven years later I couldn't imagine my life without this connection to energy. To this day I still use healing on myself, the animals I meet on the street, in my work, when I'm cooking.....basically everywhere I go.
Though when I look back at my Reiki journey, what I feel most grateful about is using it to help my dog in his last year of life. I got Elv when he was 3 months old, two families had already rejected him. For me this was good news as he tuned out to be one of those soul mate dogs who stood firmly by my side for close to sixteen years of my Earth journey. To be honest when I learnt Reiki Elv wasn't my greatest fan. He would much rather have been playing and the times I did 'offer' him Reiki, he politely tolerated it for a few moments and then found an excuse to leave! Yet in his last year of life he became a bit more open to it and would let me give him sessions here and there. It's hard to know if it was the Reiki or his incredible spirit that saw him overcome a number of challenges and remain such a lively being in spite of his health concerns. In any case it was good to have something to offer (other than of course love) to a being that had walked so faithfully by my side and given me more love and guidance than I ever could have hoped for.
As time's gone on, I've realised that the universal energies are something we all have access to in any given moment and when we choose to connect with them we open ourselves up to the many gifts and energies we have to offer the world. 'Learning' Reiki is just one tool that can help open us up to our true essence. Something that can help us bypass our beliefs or doubts and see ourselves for all that we are. Reiki is really about deepening your connection with self . It's just a bonus that you can share this gift with your family and friends.
